- Crew Training
- Crew Skills & Perks
The training level of each crew member is represented as a percentage value. This level determines the effectiveness of that crewmember in his or her duties. The higher the level, the better they are at it.
Here we see a gunner with a training level of 52% (disregarding the modifiers). With such a low score, you’ll most likely experience lackluster accuracy with your shots, and slower turret rotation — critical if you’re trying to get a quick shot at a flanking enemy. Needless to say, this is less than ideal.
Contrast that gunner with this one, with a total level of 100%. With some additional bonus modifiers added to it, this is pretty much the best you can get in terms of crew training. At this level, your shots are as tight as they can be, and your turret turns on a dime.
This concept applies to the other crew positions. Drivers accelerate and reach higher top speeds faster, Loaders ensure your next shot is ready as soon as possible, your commander extends your vehicle’s view range to its very maximum, and so on.
«How do I increase Crew training levels?»
- Play more battles! Each battle grants some measure of Crew EXP, which is the primary resource needed to train up your crewmembers. Crew EXP is also required for earning new Crew Skills (see below for more info)
- Spend Credits/Gold. Spending Credits will instantly increase your crew’s training level to 50% or 75%, while boosting up to 100% can only be done by spending gold.
- Make sure your crew is in the correct vehicle/position. Putting your M4 Sherman-trained Gunner into the Pershing’s driver’s seat is a surefire way for their training levels to take a nosedive. If you really need him/her to be in that vehicle or role however, you can spend gold to retrain them.
Crew Skills and Perks
Let’s assume that your Crew is at maximum training levels and continuing to earn Crew EXP. When that happens, their Crew EXP will go towards developing their first Crew Skill slot, raising its quality from 0% to 100%.
Crew Skill slots allow you to choose from several Skills and Perks for the crew member, granting a variety of beneficial effects in battle. Skills are selectable from the start and increase in effectiveness over time, while Perks only become active when the Crew Skill slot reaches 100%.
In this example, the crewmember here has achieved a 64% progress on his Crew Skill slot. The more Crew EXP he earns, the higher this number will go, until the Crew Skill slot caps out at 100%. A new Crew Skill slot will unlock when the crew next receives Crew EXP, allowing you to choose .
There are two ways in which to earn more Crew EXP:
- Play more battles! The number of Crew EXP awarded after a battle is derived from the Standard EXP you earn, so a better performance translates to more Crew EXP.
- Additional Crew EXP can also be gained by converting Free EXP.
«What sort of benefits do I get with Crew Skills and Perks?»
You’ll be surprised at how important these are. Here are some of the most popular ones that all players will want:
- For Commanders: Sixth Sense. Will alert you when an enemy vehicle spots yours, giving you the chance to relocate and/or escape to safety.
- For Gunners: Deadeye. Increases the chance to critically damage modules or injure enemy crews with each shot.
- For Drivers: Smooth Ride. Reduces the accuracy penalty when firing on the move. Ideal for hit and run attacks while at top speed.
- For Loaders: Intuition. Grants a chance for your loaders to switch ammunition type instantly, instead of having to reload after making the change per usual.
- For Radio Operators: Situational Awareness. Increases your vehicle’s overall view range.
The best new world weapons and weapon skill trees
If you want the best new world weapons, you are in luck, because Amazon’s MMO offers amazing flexibility in weapon selection and use.
This flexibility means that you can use almost any weapon regardless of your style, although some weapons are easier to recommend than others.
The best weapons in the new world | Overview of the weapons in the new world
New World’s approach is slightly different from other MMOs. Technically speaking, you still have tanks, healing and DPS roles, but the equipment is mainly geared towards DPS and healing. In other words, you can even build therapists as defensive units or equip them with DPS-oriented weapons.
The new world also allows you to equip each character with two weapons, which is something we especially recommend to tanks and healers. This is a party-based MMO, but there will always be a time when your healer will explore alone, and the tank needs a reliable way to cause damage.
New World’s Best Weapon | New World S-Class Weapon
You can make any weapon or combination of weapons work according to the skills and enhancements you choose, but these are the first choices at the beginning of the new world.
The best weapon in the new world | Life Clerk
The rod of life will not cause much damage, but as the name suggests, it will keep you alive. The Staff of Life is the only healing weapon in the new world, and its healing and protector skill tree gives it amazing versatility.
Life Staff Skill Tree
In addition to enhancing your life recovery ability, the Healing Skill Tree also provides the ability to eliminate debuffs such as Holy Light Splash and Healing Touch.
The protector is a more active branch that combines healing with passive and active gains. The healing effect is slightly lower, but as a trade-off, you can get the AoE effect of the skill.
No matter what you choose, no matter what your ideal career is, we recommend using Life Staff with at least one other powerful weapon.
The best weapon in the new world | Axe
The axe is an ideal DPS weapon that can reward aggressive games and continuous attacks. Its heavy blows and charged attacks will cause major blows, but even a series of normal attacks will increase your damage percentage.
Axe skill tree
The skill tree of the axe is rage and throwing. Berserk mainly provides you with new attacks and enhanced damage, but it has two outstanding skills: Defy Death and Berserk. Defy Death lets you take a 50 HP fatal blow every 75 seconds, while Berserk increases your damage by 20% for 15 seconds.
The best weapons in the new world | Firefighters
The Fire Staff is one of the most powerful weapons in the new world, but not in the beginning. Before you start investing heavily in its skills, you need to pair the Fire Staff with another weapon, because its attacks rely on mana. This means you are defenseless when it runs out, but once you expand your mana pool, the fire staff is a powerful weapon.
Fireman Skill Tree
The skill trees of Fire Staff are slightly different from each other. Both revolve around expanding the effects of your fire spells, but the Fire Mage is almost entirely focused on DPS, and the Fire Mage provides some status and support options for the comprehensive wizard.
The best weapon in the new world | Great Axe
The great axe has a strong attack power and a wide range of influence, so it can be easily placed in the overlap between the DPS and the tank. This is a two-handed weapon that almost always hits more than one enemy at a time, and its two skill trees make it possible to build for any character.
Big Axe Skill Tree
The Grim Reaper is the choice of DPS. Its skills and passive skills increase damage, penetration, and movement speed, making it easier to reach enemies and quickly destroy them. There are even some self-repair skills that can reduce the pressure on the therapist.
Mauler also increases the attack potential of Great Axe, but it also brings some damage reduction and party buffs. It is very suitable for tanks, but it can also be used as a comprehensive and efficient skill tree for any character.
New World’s Best Weapon | New World Class A Weapon
A-level weapons rank slightly lower, but they are not much different. Skill diversity is usually the most significant difference, but all of these are still worth choosing.
The best weapon in the new world | Ice Gloves
Ice Gauntlet is a powerful DPS weapon. Compared with similar weapons, it is both versatile and slightly limited. It is a popular addition to Fire Staff, thanks in part to some skills that help restore mana.
Ice Glove Skill Tree
Ice Tempest is the most interesting skill tree in Gauntlet. Its skills include Ice Spike which continuously damages and Ice Storm which slows down the enemy. If you prefer a less “face-to-face” fighting style, you can choose this branch.
Builder focuses on long-range attacks and some buffs. Entombed is an excellent choice for tank or DPS occupations. It can temporarily protect from all damage and can be enhanced after the skill is over to provide long-lasting defense gains. The offensive potential of this tree is centered on the long-range ice tower attack, making it slightly insufficient in causing sustained damage.
The best weapon in the new world | Sword and Shield
Swords and shields are classic omnipotent weapons, each version has something, but nothing is particularly noticeable. Your skill tree is also less flexible. Prioritizing one build means giving up the potential of another build. Although this sounds boring, it makes the sword and shield a perfect beginner’s choice.
Sword and Shield Skill Tree
Juggernaut is purely a DPS branch, while enhancing the sword and shield attack ability, it is also very standard. You can acquire some high-damage skills, such as reverse stab, a slight buff to party attacks, and jumping attacks suitable for long-range coverage.
The defender gave up the DPS potential, but it is a reliable choice for tanks. Shield Bash will stun and taunt the enemy, while Final Stand will reduce the damage taken and apply taunting effects in a larger area.
The best weapon in the new world | spear
The spear is another solid weapon choice, although a little less inspiring. Its skill tree adds a variety of effects to your attacks, including knockdowns and slowdowns, as well as passives that help take advantage of the pain you impose.
Spear Skill Tree
Zoner has something to suit any style. Javelin is a long-range attack, Sweep will knock down the enemy, and Cyclone will slow down in a short time. Impaler pays more attention to DPS. Attacks will increase bleeding and stun effects, and cause heavier damage than Zoner skills.
New World’s Best Weapon | New World Class B Weapon
These are still convenient weapons, but there are fewer types of skills or serious shortcomings.
The best weapon in the new world | Warhammer
Warhammer is slow and heavy, which makes it difficult to use in PvP, but it is very suitable for tanks. No matter what you choose, you will want to use it with a more versatile weapon to avoid being overwhelmed and defeated.
Warhammer Skill Tree
Warhammer has two different trees. Domination has tank potential, but it is mainly concentrated in large areas to cause high damage. The disadvantage is that, like a regular warhammer attack, you move very slowly during this process. Crowd Crusher is Hammer’s best skill tree, with great potential for powerful attacks and movement, and can also enhance your character. This is a must-have for tanks.
The best weapon in the new world | Shotgun
If you have a good target, the rifle is likely to be ranked higher in the rank list. Headshots are as deadly as you think, but once you start investing in its skill tree, even body shots can cause serious damage. The catcher tree also provides a more unique way of fighting than other weapons.
Musketeer skill tree
If you want a more traditional DPS-oriented approach, Sharpshooter is a good choice because its skills can enhance your firepower and reward good aiming. Trapper allows you to create an unpredictable musketeer, combining powerful shooting with deadly bombs and traps to cause sustained damage based on deadly effects.
New World’s Best Weapon | New World Class C Weapon
These remaining weapons do not provide much variety or practicality, we only recommend them as secondary weapons.
The best weapon in the new world | Rapier
The rapier is a limited sword and is best suited for more flexible weapons, although it is certainly not our first choice.
Sword Skill Tree
Although it is called the blood tree, the blood tree has only one skill that can cause bleeding, and the attack power of other skills is less than 100%. Grace includes some fancy-looking skills, such as Fleche and Riposte, but apart from looking pretty, they have little value.
The best weapon in the new world | bow
The bow is a cheap rifle, which is obviously not so fun to use. It works well, but most of its skills are essentially variations on the same theme. Bow users should use it with more dynamic weapons, preferably weapons with crowd control skills.
Bow Skill Tree
Skirmishers are a bit lackluster, although the poison arrow effect is helpful in most situations with fewer enemies. Hunters have better damage potential, especially penetrating arrows, but compared to other weapons in the new world, it is still limited.
You can use most weapons in the new world, but if you want to delve into factional warfare, you will need to prioritize the best weapons and the most useful skills. If you are still used to how Amazon MMO works, check out our overview to learn where to find rare items such as Fae Iron, Saltpeter, and Petal Cap. Some of the bosses you will encounter during the mission are not the easiest to find, including Sailor Captain Ambrose.
The best New World weapons and weapon skill trees
If you want the best New World weapons, you’re in luck because Amazon’s MMO offers a surprising degree of flexibility in weapon choices and how you wield them.
That flexibility means you can make almost any weapon work regardless of your style, though some weapons are easier to recommend than others.

New World best weapons | New World weapons overview
New World does things a bit differently from other MMOs. You still technically have tank, healer, and DPS roles, but equipment is mostly geared towards DPS and healer. That said, you can even build your healer into a defense unit or outfit them with DPS-oriented weapons.
New World also lets you equip two weapons on each character, which is something we recommend for tanks and healers in particular. It’s a party-based MMO, but there’s always a time when your healer will explore solo, and tanks need a reliable way to deal damage as well.
New World best weapons | New World S-tier weapons
You can make any weapon or weapon combination work depending on your chosen skills and augmentations, but these are the top picks to get started with in New World.
New World best weapons | Life Staff
The Life Staff won’t deal much damage, but as the name suggests, it will keep you alive. The Life Staff is New World’s sole healing weapon, and its Healing and Protector skill trees give it a surprising level of versatility.
Life Staff skill trees
In addition to bolstering your life-restoring powers, the Healing skill tree grants abilities such as Splash of Light and Mending Touch that remove debuffs.
Protector is a more active branch that combines healing with passive and active buffs. The healing potency is a bit less, but you get AoE effects for skills as a trade-off.
Whatever your choice, we recommend pairing Life Staff with at least one other strong weapon regardless of your ideal class.
New World best weapons | Hatchet
The Hatchet is an ideal DPS weapon that rewards aggressive play and constant attacks. Its heavy and charged attacks deal significant blows, but even stringing a chain of normal attacks sees your damage percentage increase.
Hatchet skill trees
The Hatchet’s skill trees are Berserk and Throwing. Berserk mostly gives you new attacks and enhanced damage, but it has two standout skills: Defy Death and Berserk. Defy Death lets you survive a fatal blow with 50 HP once every 75 seconds, while Berserk boosts your damage by 20% for 15 seconds.
New World best weapons | Fire Staff
The Fire Staff is one of New World’s most powerful weapons, but not at first. You’ll want to pair the Fire Staff with another weapon until you start investing heavily into its skills, since it relies on mana for its attacks. That means you’re defenseless when it runs out, but once you expand your mana pool, the Fire Staff is a potent weapon.
Fire Staff skill trees
The Fire Staff’s skill trees are subtly different from each other. Both revolve around extending the effects of your fire spells, but Fire Mage is almost completely DPS focused, while Pyromancer offers some status and support options for the well-rounded mage.
New World best weapons | Great Axe
The Great Axe hits hard and has a wide area of effect, so it sits comfortably in the overlap between DPS and tank. It’s a two-handed weapon that almost always hits more than one foe at a time, and its two skill trees make it possible to build for either role.
Great Axe skill trees
The Reaper tree is the DPS choice. Its skills and passives increase damage, penetration, and move speed, making it easier to reach foes and dispatch them quickly. There’s even a couple of self-healing skills to take the strain off your healer.
Mauler also enhances the Great Axe’s attack potential, but throws in some damage reduction and party buffs as well. It’s ideal for tanks, but also functions as an all-around efficient skill tree for any role.
New World best weapons | New World A-tier weapons
A-tier weapons rank slightly lower, but not by much. Skill variety is ususally the most significant difference, but all of these are still worthy choices.
New World best weapons | Ice Gauntlet
The Ice Gauntlet is a powerful DPS weapon that’s both versatile and slightly more limited than its counterparts. It’s a popular complement for the Fire Staff thanks in part to a few skills that help restore mana.
Ice Gauntlet skill trees Ice Tempest is the most interesting of the Gauntlet’s skill trees, with skills such as Ice Spike that deal continuous damage and Ice Storm that slows enemies down. This is the branch to pick if you prefer a less “in your face” fighting style.
Builder focuses on ranged attacks and some buffs. Entombed is an excellent choice for tanks or DPS classes that temporarily protects from all damage and can be enhanced to offer a lasting defense buff once the skill ends. This tree’s offense potential centers around the ranged Ice Pylon attack, making it slightly less useful for dealing continuous damage.
New World best weapons | Sword and Shield
Sword and Shield is the classic jack-of-all-trades weapon with something for every build, but nothing that stands out as spectacular. There’s also less flexibility in your skill trees. Prioritizing one build means giving up potential for another, and while that might sound uninteresting, it makes Sword and Shield is a perfect beginner choice.
Sword and Shield skill tree
Swordmaster is purely a DPS branch, and while it augments Sword and Shield’s offensive capabilities, it’s also pretty standard. You get some high damage skills, such as Reverse Stab, and a slight buff to party attack, along with a leaping attack that’s handy for covering long distances.
Defender gives up DPS potential, but it’s a solid choice for tanks. Shield Bash stuns and taunts enemies, while Final Stand reduces damage received and also applies a taunt effect in a wider area.
New World best weapons | Spear
The spear is another solid, if slightly less inspiring, weapon choice. Its skill trees add several effects to your attacks, including knockdown and slow, with passives that help take advantage of the afflictions you apply.
Spear skill trees
Zoner has something for any style. Javelin is a ranged attack, while Sweep knocks enemies down, and Cyclone inflicts slow for a short period. Impaler is more DPS focused, with attacks that add bleed and stun effects while dealing heavier damage than Zoner’s skills.
New World best weapons | New World B-tier weapons
These are still handy weapons, but have less skill variety or come with serious drawbacks.
New World best weapons | War Hammer
The War Hammer is slow and bulky, which makes it tough for PvP, but excellent for tanks. Whatever your choice, you’ll want to pair it with a more versatile weapon to avoid getting overwhelmed and outmatched.
War Hammer skill tree
The War Hammer has two distinct trees. Juggernaut has tank potential, but mostly focuses on dealing high damage in a wide area. The drawback is, as with regular War Hammer attacks, you move pretty slowly in the process. Crowd Crusher is the Hammer’s best skill tree, with significant potential for strong attacks and moves that also buff your character. It’s a must for tanks.
New World best weapons | Musket
If you have good aim, the musket will likely sit higher on the tier list. Headshots are as lethal as you’d expect, but once you start investing in its skill trees, even body shots deal heavy damage. The Trapper tree also offers a more unique approach to combat than other weapons.
Musket skill tree
Sharpshooter is good if you want the more traditional DPS-oriented approach, since its skills bolster your firepower and reward good aim. Trapper lets you build an unpredictable musketeer, one that combines strong shots with deadly bombs and traps dealing continued damage on top of fatal effects.
New World best weapons | New World C-tier weapons
These remaining weapons don’t offer much in variety or usefulness, and we only recommend them as secondary weapons.
New World best weapons | Rapier
The rapier is a limited sword that works best paired with a more flexible weapon, though it’s certainly not our top pick even for that.
Rapier skill tree
Despite the name, the Blood tree only has one skill that inflicts bleed, and the attack power for that plus its other skills is less than 100%. Grace includes some fancy-looking skills, such as Fleche and Riposte, but beyond looking nifty, they do very little of value.
New World best weapons | Bow
The bow is a bargain musket that’s significantly less fun to use. It works well enough, but most of its skills are essentially variations of the same theme. Bow users should pair it with a more dynamic weapon, ideally one with crowd control skills.
Bow skill tree
Skirmisher is a bit lackluster, though the poison arrow effect is helpful in most situations with fewer enemies. Hunter has better damage potential, especially with penetrating arrow, but it’s still limited compared to every other weapon in New World.
You can make most weapons work in New World, but if you’re digging into faction wars, you’ll want to prioritize the best weapons and most useful skills. If you’re still getting used to how things work in Amazon’s MMOs, check out our overviews for where to find rare items such as Fae Iron, Saltpeter, and Petal Cap. Some of the bosses you’ll face for quests aren’t the easiest to track down either, including Boatswain Ambrose.
